The Museum of Jewish Heritage commissioned Paul to compose a score to be performed live with the 1925 silent film Jewish boxing classic “His People.” This work has been performed all over the US and internationally since then. Selections from Paul’s score to “Watermelon Woman,” a film by Cheryl Dunye, will be featured, as well as material Paul wrote for Brooklyn Funk Essentials and The Microscopic Septet.

Performing music from Tzadik cds Midnight Minyan and It’s in the Twilight. Paul used melodies from the synagogue and re-imagined them as jazz compositions. He also wrote several new pieces. This most engaging material has been performed in clubs, concert halls, festivals and synagogues.

Performing music from Shapiro’s Tzadik record entitled “Essen.” In the 1930s and ’40s Jewish popular music was becoming American popular music. This band rocks this history with bluesy, hard swinging, comedic, distinctively American music with a Yiddish flavor.
